Some people believe that coal is the world's fuel, but actually, it's coffee. People NEED their coffee, and they need convenient ways to get it fast. That is why we have disposable coffee cups, however, did you know that coffee cups are a big contributor to the CO2 emissions that are hurting our ozone layer.
Over 100 BILLION cups are sent to landfills each year
20 MILLION Trees are cut down every year to make disposable coffee cups.
12 BILLION gallons of water are used per year in the production of disposable coffee cups.
Most plastic cups cannot be recycled as they are coated with a layer of plastic
Disposable cups are responsible for around 250 MILLION pounds of CO2 emissions PER YEAR
Disposable coffe cups are a huge problem for our atmosphere! So don't add to the problem. Here are some ways you can say NO to reusable cups and be a HERO for our atmosphere!
Three ways you can be a hero for our envornment

At our school, if you buy a drink and bring a reusable water bottle, you can fill up your container for the price of a small coffee!

At Starbucks, if you buy a drink and request for it to be put in your Starbucks reusable tumbler, you can get 10 cents off of your drink!

Say no to disposable cups. If you can, bring your own cup with you and request to have your drink in your cup instead. Think about the change that could happen if everyone did this at least twice a week!
Although it may seem like one person cannot affect such a large issue, your range of impact is a lot larger than you may think.
If you try to do one of the recommended tasks at least twice a week, not only will you save a lot of money and resources, you could also inspire others to do the same and make a very large impact on the environment together.
